Maribel grew in Virginia together with her parents but there are few details regarding their lives. As a child Maribel was interested in becoming a lawyer and pursued her career in the legal profession. After high school graduation in the year 1819, she attended University of Virginia. University of Virginia, where she received a degree in a concentration in German and Foreign Policy. The school is considered to be one of the most historically rich universities within the US with its roots dating back to 1819 which was the year that it was established by Thomas Jefferson, one of the authors of the Declaration of Independence. The school has grown to offer more than a hundred programs, within the Jefferson's Academical Village which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The campus central to the University is located on approximately 1,600 acre as well as thousands of acres of research parks as well its farm. Following the completion of her studies, Maribel furthered her studies at New York Law School to take on the Juris Doctor.
